Pulse shows CPU > 100%

Hi,

how is it possible that Pulse reports a CPU usage of > 100%?

Calculating CPU use is an imprecise science, it seems like a simple calculation, like your speedometer in your car, but it much more complicated. It is calculated by counting the number of total CPU cycles minus the used CPU cycles over a given time frame. In Pulse this is one second.

It becomes complicated because most servers have multiple CPUs with multiple cores that allow processing to be split. Features such as Turbo Boost mode in CPUs can also increase clock speed to faster than the normal operating speed.
