On one server which was running 5.4.1 on Windows 2008 R2 I have an issue upgrading to 5.6. The install completes successfully according to the logs but the Pulse service is not created, only the Pulse Application service. What are the instructions to manually create the service?

You should uninstall and restart the box and then install Pulse again. It might also be caused by not having the correct version of the .NET installed. The Pulse monitor now needs .NET 4.6 installed.
