Pulse Connection for SSL and Non-SSL Environments

Hi Team,

We are currently planning an upgrade of our Pulse environment from version 6.2.1 to 6.4.0. Following the upgrade, Pulse will need to connect to two environments: an existing TM1 environment without SSL and a new TM1 environment with SSL. Additionally, we plan to implement SSL on the Pulse server itself.

I would like to confirm if Pulse can connect to two environments simultaneously, one with SSL and the other without. My understanding is that this should be possible.

Furthermore, could you please advise on the potential impacts of enabling SSL on the Pulse server?

Any insights or suggestions you may have would be greatly appreciated.

Hi @rnatarajan,

On Pulse With SSL

This should only affect the Pulse Web and will impact users accessing Pulse. Most notably, if the SSL certificates are not proper nor recognize by their browser, they will have a certificate issue warning. At worst, they are blocked from accessing the site.

On Pulse Connecting to Different TM1 servers with varying SSL Setup

Pulse is able to connect with either HTTPS or HTTP so there should not be a connection issue. Depending on your setup, what this might impact is the authentication part. In particular if you are using Windows SSO or CAM (need to update redirect URLs) to connect to your TM1 servers. But if not, it should be as straightforward as possible.

On Pulse Connecting to Existing and New Environments

This is the part that we may need to get more clarification. Like, what is the plan with the existing data from the existing environment once it has been shutdown? Or was that meant to be maintained? Judging by the names of the TM1 servers, are they meant to be something like a DR, DEV, UAT or SIT environment? Or are you planning to migrate them over to this new environment soon?

Cheers,

Paul

Thanks @plim

The plan is to decommissioned the existing environment once the users start using the new environment, until then we are planning to keep both old and new for at least 3 months parallel run.

There is no plan so far on how to deal with the existing data in existing environment once its shutdown but ideally would be nice to keep them for reference if there is a way, kindly let me know.

Cheers,
Ram

Hi @rnatarajan,

Thanks for clarifying!

If only for reference, then data can still be viewable, especially those in Elasticsearch.

Cheers,

Paul
