Pulse 6 Upgrade

Pulse 6 now requires updates in 2 places, the monitor and the web host. What is the best strategy for upgrading to 6.0.4? Can we upgrade just the webhost and leave the monitor agents alone? Can we run a mix of monitor versions, or should it all be done in one go?

Environment:

  • 3 Pulse Hosts
  • Each connecting to 5-30 admin hosts
  • Pulse DB hosted on SQL server.

Hi @rdclapp,

Pulse monitor releases have an independent release numbering. Pulse 6.0.4 and 6.0.3 support monitor 1.0.6 . You can notice the version of the monitors via the start up log:

or in the Status tab in the web client:

If you have one or many monitors with a different version to 1.0.6 you would have to upgrade these monitors as well.

Hi @rdclapp , if you are upgrading from v6.0.3 to v6.0.4 then you don’t need to upgrade the Pulse Monitor on each TM1 server.

One of the advantages of using the centralized Pulse Application Server is that upgrading Pulse is quicker as you would just have to upgrade the Pulse Application Server. However, if we find a bug or need to improve the Pulse Monitor then in the release notes, it will be mentioned that you have to upgrade the Pulse Monitor.

The Pulse Monitor was upgraded in Pulse v6.0.3 so:

  • If you are upgrading from v6.0.3 to v6.0.4 then you don’t need to upgrade each Pulse Monitor
  • If you are upgrading from v6.0.0, 6.0.1 or 6.0.2 to v6.0.4 then you will have to upgrade each Pulse Monitor

Cheers,

Vincent
