Migration to Pulse 6 + Installation Disk change

Hi Team,

I am migrating a Pulse 5 environment to Pulse 6. The disks in the server are:

C: Has Pulse 5 installation and all system softwares having less than 20 Gb free;
D: Has the TM1 data and more than 100 Gb free.

Considering Pulse 6 requirements, installing the new version in drive D looks like the way to go but then we have the following questions:

  1. As I will not be installing on top of previous version, how can I keep all the history and configuration? Would be enough to copy old Pulse directory from C: to D: before running the installer?

  2. Would be necessary to manually uninstall Pulse 5 before Pulse 6 installation?

  3. Is there any other concern I should be aware of in this scenario?

Thanks in advance,

Cheers!

Hi @jpaulo,

Before everything else, please back up Pulse for TM1 folder.

As for the setup, here are at least two approaches:

  • Option 1 - Pulse 5 Relocation Prior to Upgrading

    • Reinstall Pulse 5 into that new/target installation folder
      • Uninstall Pulse 5
      • Copy Pulse for TM1 folder into the new/target installation folder
      • Install Pulse 5, pointing to that new/target folder
    • Check (ensure there are no errors related to installation) and verify that everything is up and working
    • Upgrade to Pulse 6
    • Check (ensure there are no errors related to installation) and verify that everything is up and working
  • Option 2 - Pulse 5 and 6 Relocation of Folders

    • Uninstall Pulse 5,
    • Copy Pulse for TM1 folder into the new/target installation folder
    • Install Pulse 6 and point to that new/target installation folder
    • Check logs (ensure there are no errors related to installation) and verify that everything is up and working

Note that both involves copying the Pulse for TM1 folder into the target location. The preference is up to you or if you have another way similar to it.

As always, please test and verify it out on a non-PROD environment first.

Cheers!

Paul

Thanks Paul!

Option 1 seems even safer. Iā€™m going to try that and post the results.

Cheers!

Hi Paul,

Option 1 took some time but confirmed to work perfectly.

Thanks!
