When I create a new process in Arc (1.3.1), set a data source and move to variables tab, I see no variables generated based on the source.
If I save this process and open it in Architect and save from there again, the variables do show up in Arc.

Arc will create the variables only if you click the “Create Variables” button:
Once the variables have been created, if you change the datasource, to recreate the varibles you will need to click the “Replace Variables” button:
